20 Beauty Questions tag

20 Beauty Questions Tag.

Ages and ages ago, before the dawn of time it would seem….I was tagged by the truly wonderful Andrea to do the ’20 Beauty Questions Tag’.
As you can probably work out, these are 20 questions, all based on beauty….stuff.

So I have finally got round to doing it…I hope you enjoy!!

Ok, Question 1. What is the one product you would grab if your house was on fire?
Wowzers…this is a difficult one. I would probably say concealer. I am a complete zombie in the mornings, and suffer every morning with dark circles under my eyes. The early morning feeds have inevitably caught up with me, and so I have to wear concealer every day. I’m not sure which brand though…they are all amazing!

Question 2. Which beauty vlogger would you want to do your make up?
I have a few – I’m such a rookie when it comes to make up. I’m terrible. But Chyaz (PunkChyaz), Abby (AbbysMakeUpHeaven), Sara (swalkermakeup) and Shelley (shellx85x) always look flawless and gorgeous.
So if any of those beauts want to come round and put my face on, I wouldn’t say no!

Question 3. Which celebrity do people think you look like?
The Wicked Witch of the West?
No, I have to say none. Although my maths teacher when I was in senior school used to call me Katie as I apparently looked like Katie Holmes. Sorry…I just don’t see it. (neither can you? That’s fine…there’s not even a slight resemblance!)

Question 4. Which beauty product do you save for your date night?
Date night? What’s that? Haha….
Steve and I, on the rare occasion we go out Luke Free, don’t really dress up or glamourise. We are perfectly happy just going to a Beefeater. But if the occasion arose that we were off somewhere a little more special, my date night product would be lipstick. I have SO many of the things, but I don’t wear them on a day to day basis. I’m more happy in nude lips with a gloss. But lipsticks? Means something special!!

Question 5. Which of your guy friends takes longest to get ready?
We only have a small, close network of friends. And since having Luke, we don’t see each other as much as I would like!
But it’s without a doubt my Steve – who takes longest to get ready.

Question 6. If you could create your own beauty product, what would it be?
I have be dreaming of a wonder product for years….I want to divulge – but I fear someone will see my idea and design it for themselves. That’s my job!
So, I shan’t tell you. Fingers crossed, one day, my dream will come true, and I’ll design and create this…idea – and make it a reality.
But on a slight tangent, I would like a nail polish that never chips. Is that too much to ask? I know I’m not alone with that.

Question 7. What’s your best beauty tip?
Definitely invest in a decent Day and Night cream. I have the Simple range and they are amazing!
First thing in the morning to wake my skin up and rehydrate, and night cream before bed to soften and lock in any moisture that would be lost over night. My skin has honestly never felt so good or looked so healthy.

Question 8. Which products do you like to splurge on?
I go through stages. Sometimes (like recently) I’ll buy every BB Cream on the market. Then it might be eyeshadows, or liners, or lip gloss. But I only buy from brands I’ve used and trust – so a lot of my make up collection is 17, Collection, ELF or MUA.

Question 9. Which beauty vloggers would you take on a shopping spree?
Sam – Piinksparkles. Have you seen her hauls? They are epic! She hauls every week it would seem and I am obsessed with watching them. I love how she isn’t afraid to wear bold and bright colours, or to go with wacky accessories. She is amazing. I encourage you all to watch her videos!!

Question 10. What is your signature scent?
Cacharel – Amor Amor. Wouldn’t leave the house without it. Beautiful scent for any season, especially spring and summer, but also helps to bring the floral hints into the colder months.

Question 11. I am on an endless quest for the perfect….
Eyeliner. I am getting more and more irritated with spending ages applying my eye liner, then half an hour later, it’s shifted below my eyes and I resemble a panda. Even waterproof ones do this to me.

Question 12. How many beauty products does it take to get ready?
On an average day, 10 – Primer, BB Cream, concealer, powder, blush, eye primer, eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss.
If I’m just chilling out at home though, I don’t bother with blush, lipgloss or mascara. So I can get it down to 7.

Question 13. What lipsticks/lip glosses are in your bag right now?
I have Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss, the Revlon Colorstay Lipstick in Creamy Coral, the NYC Applelicious Gloss Lip Balm in Caramel Apple and an Aloe Vera Vaseline tin.

Question 14. Who is your celebrity beauty icon?
I can’t say I have one. I’ve never followed beauty and fashion that closely…weak answer. Bad Harriet.

Question 15. Name the beauty brand you would love to be a spokesperson for?
Easy – ELF. I have most of their collection in my make up stash and can quite easily praise their quality, pricing and products all day. I would love to work for their team! I have always had amazing customer service – love!

Question 16. What is your current nail polish?
Ah….now I was really bad and bit my nails again. So nothing. My finger stubs are au natural! But my toes…it’s the NYC Foil Explosion polish in Enchanting Fire. Gorgeous!

Question 17. Favourite mascara right now?
As I only wear mascara when I go out, I don’t just wear one – because I’m not reaching for it everyday. So depending on what I’m doing, depends on which mascara I wear. If I’m just popping to the shop, just a brown mascara. But if I’m out all day or going out for a family event – then I get a black waterproof. But no favourites at the moment. Sorry!

Question 18. The last thing you purchased from Sephora?
Sadly, nothing. I have never purchased anything from them. But now they ship to the UK – this could change!

Question 19. I never try to be seen without wearing….concealer.
The bags under my eyes are worthy of the living dead. Concealer is a must for me.

And finally…
Question 20. The one beauty product you would always recommend?
One that needs no introduction, or any help being recognised in the beauty community – the Collection Lasting Perfection 16 Hour Concealer. It’s amazing! All the big beauty gurus use it, my friends use it, I use it. It’s just fab!

So thank you for reading this essay!! And than you also to the wonderful Andrea for tagging me!! I love tags!

Let me know if there are about other tags you would like me to do!

5 Current Loves : Lip Products.

Evening all!

It’s very rare for me to write reviews and rave about lip products. I am not really a lipstick wearer, although I have so many…and will more often than not just go out with a lip balm on, rather than something with colour.

But, these last few weeks, I have been braving it and stepping out of my comfort zone to wear lip products that actually have pigmentation!!

So firstly, Rimmel London Lipstick in ‘Drop of Sherry’

20140408-211752.jpg
This lipstick was a complete impulse buy for a wedding I went to a few weeks ago – I thought it would compliment the similar colour of the flower print. As it turns out, I didn’t wear it at all –
Instead, it was a bolder choice of lipstick for an interview I went to last week.
It is such a moisturising lipstick – as I mentioned before, I have so many but haven’t really worn them. Are all lipsticks like this?? It’s lovely.
The colour is a deep pink/red, which some people may argue would suit colder months. But I found it to be perfect for the dark suit I was wearing.
I believe it retailed for around the £4 mark, so not a complete bank breaker. I would certainly wear this again!!

The next lip product I have been enjoying lately is the Avon lipstick in Cappuccino.

20140408-212404.jpg
This lipstick is my perfect shade. For someone who doesn’t wear lipsticks often…I feel that certain shades don’t suit me, or I look too girly…I’m a complete tomboy at heart…so a nude, natural shade is just what I like! The feeling of wearing a lipstick, without looking like I am!
Again, I think this was around the £4 mark, but if you can get your hand on this product, do. It’s shiny, glossy, glides on easily, doesn’t dry my lips out like other ones I’ve tried…and for you nude lip fans….ta da!!!

Next on my list is the Collection Deluxe lipstick in Charleston.

20140408-212800.jpg
This is a slightly darker nude lipstick, which I tend to wear more for evenings. When I go out in the day, I tend to keep my make up looking natural, as I don’t have the time to blend lots of eyeshadows together, contour or most days even apply mascara! Getting ready with my little tornado is difficult, so I keep my face to a minimum!
However, on the odd occasion that Steve and I go out, I like to go a teeny bit darker in the lip department, as I do with my eye make up. Just to look different!
So this lipstick isn’t too dissimilar to the others…very moisturising and doesn’t dry my lips out or make them look cakey. The ‘deluxe’ part makes it sound very high end, although I paid £2.99 for it! A great product with I would recommend to anyone who wants a colour on their lips, but nothing too vibrant!

Now onto a lip liner. Sometimes I like to just wear the liner as a lip colour – filling in the whole lip rather than the outline.
Here is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in Crush.

20140408-213311.jpg
I fell into the trap of these after seeing a fellow YouTuber talk about them in a haul. I forget which gorgeous girly it was! However, it wasn’t long before every YouTuber I watched was talking about them, so I grabbed a couple to see what the fuss was about.
This particular one is incredibly dark for me – I am surprised (even now) that is is even in my collection, as it is nothing like anything I feel comfortable wearing!
That said, it is a lovely product! And I certainly see the hype! The colour is long lasting, highly pigmented and smooth – a little certainly goes a long way! I have been enjoying wearing this product , lightly applying it as an all over colour and then blending it out to create a subtle, yet warm look. Again, I am sure people would vote this colour for more Autumn or Winter, but I guess it’s down to personal preference. I think it is gorgeous.

At the complete opposite end of the scale, and the last one I will be talking about, the ELF Matte Lip Colour in Nearly Nude.

20140408-213831.jpg
This product has been on my grab list for months. It’s gorgeous!!
I am a complete ELF junkie, and I love all of the products I own from them. This lip colour is amazing – its staying power out does all of the other products I have mentioned and is my perfect shade. If you are after a nude lip, this is incredible, and ELF’s amazing pricing makes it the perfect product to try if you are new to make up or don’t want to spend a fortune finding a shade that is just right for you.
I love how natural it looks – it doesn’t look like I am wearing any lip colour at all. But I can feel how nourishing it is, and it can help to cancel out any blemishes I get…I am a cold sore magnet!

What are your go to lip products?? Are there any you would recommend I try??

Thanks for reading,
Harriet xx

Whats in my Bag?

OK, so for those of you who watch YouTube, you will know that pretty much every beauty guru has done the ‘Whats in my Bag’ tag. Me being no exception.
However, I find making videos for my channel (unless Im vlogging…) really quite difficult. So, now that Luke is asleep, I thought I would do the tag….in the form of a blog!
2 birds, 1 stone springs to mind right now!!

SO….

20140404-212201.jpg

Firstly, lets take a second to appreciate the bag – I think she is beautiful!!
My bag is a medium, black Fiorelli bag, with white piped side detailing. Unfortunately, I think this particular one has been discontinued, but you may be able to pick one up in an outlet store or on Ebay.
I also can’t tell you how much it was, as it was a Christmas present from Steve in 2012. Since having Luke, I haven’t really used handbags because I put everything into the changing bag. But, I can now go back to my bags, as I carry a Jake and the Neverland Pirates backpack for Luke, and now my stuff wont fit in it!

What is in this bad boy I hear you ask? Lets have a look…

20140404-213008.jpg

So, firstly, all the things I cannot leave the house without ; diary, phone, purse and keys.
~ The diary is from Calendar Club (RRP £7.99)
~ Phone is the iPhone 4S,
~ Purse is from United Colours of Benetton from TKMaxx (RRP £8.99)
and…..my key.

20140404-213252.jpg

Then I have some smellies –
~ Simple deodorant,
~ Vaseline anti-perperant,
~ Impulse ‘Sweet Smile’ body spray and my signature scent,
~ Amor Amor by Cacharel.
Obviously, it is important to carry around these things, as I don’t like to smell!

20140404-213505.jpg

This little collection of stuff is pretty random – (spot the fruit theme….which is in no way intentional!)
~ Hair brush,
~ Citrus scented antibacterial gel (RRP 99p from Wilkinson),
~ Lemony Flutter cuticle butter from Lush (although I use it as a hand cream and it smells delicious!!) RRP £…can’t remember!
~ Strawberry scented tissues, (RRP £1 for 10 packets…Poundland)
~ Sticky Fingers wipes (these are essential, being a mummy to a grub magnet!) These are from Tesco and retail at 89p
~ Chewing gum,
~ 2 pens, and
~ Bottle of water. (Although I have to be honest, I hate water…)

20140404-214107.jpg

I am feeling quite proud of myself for only having 4 lip products in my bag at this particular time. I have to admit, its usually in double digits!! I am currently carrying;
~ Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss
~ Maybelline Baby Lips – Intense Care
~ Revlon Colour Stay Lipstick in Creamy Coral
~ NYC Applelicious Glossy Lip Balm in Caramel Apple
I suffer with dry, cracked lips, so I never leave home without a lip product…or 4 it would seem!

and finally….some randoms odds and sods.

20140404-214612.jpg

I have
~ Plasters…obvious reasons…
~ Heartburn tablets – I only occasionally suffer with the dreaded burn, but I carry them with me as a precaution,
~ Passport – I had an interview yesterday, and thought it might be useful…
~ Rubbish – because no handbag is complete without a little crap!!

So that is everything that is in my bag! Whats in your bag?

Thanks for reading!!

Lets Open August’s Glossy Box!

If you followed me on my YouTube channel, you’ll know that I used to be a subscriber of Glossy Box. But January 2012 made me stop after I received a few boxes that I wasn’t overly impressed with.
However, watching other people’s videos over the past 12 months has made me miss it! So last month I gave in and re-subscribed!

For those who aren’t familiar with the Glossy Box thing, here is a quick rundown.
Glossy Box is a subscription service, costing £10 a month, plus £2.95 P&P.
Every month, a beautiful box appears on your doorstep and inside is a box with 5 luxury samples or full sized beauty products.
These products are aimed around a theme. This month was ‘High Flyers’, so the contents of the box were for gals on the go, with products from countries around the world.

The box is gorgeously wrapped in black paper, tied with a pale pink ribbon and sealed with the Glossy Box logo sticker. The attention to detail always impresses me!

The contents of my box are shown below.

Contents of my Glossy Box

On first impressions, I was really happy with the products I had received. It’s always nice to try products by other companies that aren’t readily or easily available in the UK.

So let’s look in more detail at each of the products.

First, the Tresemme Platinum Strength Concentrated Treatment Shot. Retailing at £1.49, this full sized product is a welcome addition to my hair regime! I am always on the look-out for products that will make my hair look more healthy or shiny. So when I saw this, I was really excited to try it. I normally use the VO5 Hot Oils, but find them to be a little greasy, even after rinsing. So, I shall let you know if I am Tress-amazed…see what I did there?!
Tresseme

Next, the Olay Regenerist 3 Point Treatment Cream. Now let’s face it, I’m not getting any younger. And being a mummy with restless nights can take its toll on my skin. So, I am equally as excited to try this to see if it restores my face back to 29, not 129! I have never used any of the Olay products; I consider them to be a high end, luxury product. Usually the product you only give a relative for Christmas. But I am looking forward to trying this to see if I like it!

Olay

The next product I pulled out of the box was the Jelly Pong Pong Shadow/Liner Crayon. Retailing at £10.50, this again is another full sized product. (By looking at the prices, 2 of the 5 products cost £11.99, so I am a £1 off of breaking even with the price of the box!)
Now make up is a huge part of my life, a big obsession. I was ecstatic to see this in my Glossy Box! A new makeup product to try, which excites me like a bunny at Easter.
I have never tried anything by Jelly Pong Pong, so I’m very much looking forward to playing about. Steve & I had a bicker about the colour. I think it’s a very dark green, he thinks it’s black. What do you think? Either way, it’s awesome, and I’m looking forward to trying some looks with it.

Next, is the Emite Eyelash curler. Now, I’m a bad girl, and I don’t curl my lashes. Nor do I pluck my eyebrows, but products like this, always interest me.
I know me, I know what I’m like…I’ll use this for a few weeks, and it will disappear into my makeup drawer like everything else. Now, I may continue to use this, for the pure fact it costs £20! Now, I think that’s a little much for an eyelash curler, but the price has more than made up for the £12.95 the box cost me to begin with. Nice one Glossy Box, you have my upmost praise!

The last product in this month’s Glossy Box is the Oceane Makeup Remover Pen. This baby doesn’t have a retail price, as it is not yet available in the UK. This impresses me a lot, as I love trying products that aren’t here yet.
I tried finding a RRP, but the website is in Portuguese, and unfortunately, that isn’t a language I understand. (If any of you know Portuguese, please pop into the website and tell me what it says! I’m so uncultured!)

As you can see from the photo below, the pen is awesome. It cut straight through the liner and removed it completely. I am impressed with this, and am looking forward to removing the random bits of mascara I tend to find on the side of my nose, or above my eyebrows! (How it gets there, I have no idea!)
It is supplied with 3 refill nibs too, which to me is an added bonus!

So there we have it, a little look into the August Glossy Box.
I’m interested to know if any of you do Glossy Box, and if so, what products did you receive and what did you think of them?

Thanks for reading!

Dainty Doll Eyehadows

Good afternoon!
What a horrible day it has been – its been raining here.
And its been that annoying type of rain. You know the type, the poor excuse for rain, that is more like a fine mist than a downpour! Come on rain, if you’re going to do it, do it properly!
Its definitely been a ‘tea and fluffy socks’ day. I even put the heating on this morning! Come on August…sort it out!

Anyway, the point of this blog is to talk about some beauty bits I have been purchasing lately. (I couldn’t have a blog and not talk about beauty things! It just wouldn’t be right!)

As those of you who know me will already know, I am a huge bargain hunter. And if I find one that I can’t pass up, I normally end up getting it in every colour.
So imagine my absolute JOY when I went into my parents local Poundland and found these beauties!

Dainty Doll Shadows and Swatches

Yes, this is Dainty Doll, the make-up line created by Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts!
I was so excited to try these, so I scooped up all 5!
I unfortunately couldn’t find a retail price on the Dainty Doll website, so after some Googling, I found that these eye shadows can sell from £1.99 to £14.00 on some online stores. So even more excitement that I found them for 100 English pennies!

The colours are bright, bold and exciting, and as you can see from the swatches, they have a very impressive pigmentation and colour pay off! (I’m not overly sure when Ill wear the yellow one, but time will tell!)
The packaging is sleek and stylish. I wouldn’t mind receiving these as a gift!
The pans themselves do not have the name of the product printed on them, which I find to be a drawback, as when I want to use one, I have to open them all to see the colours – a huge bug in the beauty community, I know!
However, that is a small and insignificant drawback, when compared to the quality of the product. The eye shadows themselves are easy to apply, very smooth and non-creasing. The colours are bright and fun, and can be layered to create a dramatic or soft look, depending on your personal preference!

Sorry, how rude of me! I haven’t said colour names!! Whoops! (And I’m going left to right here)

003 Teach Me Tiger – Pearl rose-gold
001 Are You Experienced – Matte brown
008 – Jungle – Emerald green
006 – Kingston Town – A bright and vibrant yellow
004 – Copacabana – A bright blue

I feel these were an absolute steal at only £1 each – if you can visit a Poundland and get your hands on these babies, I would strongly advise it! They are amazing!
A very impressed and happy shopper right here!

Have you tried any of the Dainty Doll line?
What are your thoughts?
