5 Current Loves : Lip Products.

Evening all!

It’s very rare for me to write reviews and rave about lip products. I am not really a lipstick wearer, although I have so many…and will more often than not just go out with a lip balm on, rather than something with colour.

But, these last few weeks, I have been braving it and stepping out of my comfort zone to wear lip products that actually have pigmentation!!

So firstly, Rimmel London Lipstick in ‘Drop of Sherry’

This lipstick was a complete impulse buy for a wedding I went to a few weeks ago – I thought it would compliment the similar colour of the flower print. As it turns out, I didn’t wear it at all –
Instead, it was a bolder choice of lipstick for an interview I went to last week.
It is such a moisturising lipstick – as I mentioned before, I have so many but haven’t really worn them. Are all lipsticks like this?? It’s lovely.
The colour is a deep pink/red, which some people may argue would suit colder months. But I found it to be perfect for the dark suit I was wearing.
I believe it retailed for around the £4 mark, so not a complete bank breaker. I would certainly wear this again!!

The next lip product I have been enjoying lately is the Avon lipstick in Cappuccino.

This lipstick is my perfect shade. For someone who doesn’t wear lipsticks often…I feel that certain shades don’t suit me, or I look too girly…I’m a complete tomboy at heart…so a nude, natural shade is just what I like! The feeling of wearing a lipstick, without looking like I am!
Again, I think this was around the £4 mark, but if you can get your hand on this product, do. It’s shiny, glossy, glides on easily, doesn’t dry my lips out like other ones I’ve tried…and for you nude lip fans….ta da!!!

Next on my list is the Collection Deluxe lipstick in Charleston.

This is a slightly darker nude lipstick, which I tend to wear more for evenings. When I go out in the day, I tend to keep my make up looking natural, as I don’t have the time to blend lots of eyeshadows together, contour or most days even apply mascara! Getting ready with my little tornado is difficult, so I keep my face to a minimum!
However, on the odd occasion that Steve and I go out, I like to go a teeny bit darker in the lip department, as I do with my eye make up. Just to look different!
So this lipstick isn’t too dissimilar to the others…very moisturising and doesn’t dry my lips out or make them look cakey. The ‘deluxe’ part makes it sound very high end, although I paid £2.99 for it! A great product with I would recommend to anyone who wants a colour on their lips, but nothing too vibrant!

Now onto a lip liner. Sometimes I like to just wear the liner as a lip colour – filling in the whole lip rather than the outline.
Here is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain in Crush.

I fell into the trap of these after seeing a fellow YouTuber talk about them in a haul. I forget which gorgeous girly it was! However, it wasn’t long before every YouTuber I watched was talking about them, so I grabbed a couple to see what the fuss was about.
This particular one is incredibly dark for me – I am surprised (even now) that is is even in my collection, as it is nothing like anything I feel comfortable wearing!
That said, it is a lovely product! And I certainly see the hype! The colour is long lasting, highly pigmented and smooth – a little certainly goes a long way! I have been enjoying wearing this product , lightly applying it as an all over colour and then blending it out to create a subtle, yet warm look. Again, I am sure people would vote this colour for more Autumn or Winter, but I guess it’s down to personal preference. I think it is gorgeous.

At the complete opposite end of the scale, and the last one I will be talking about, the ELF Matte Lip Colour in Nearly Nude.

This product has been on my grab list for months. It’s gorgeous!!
I am a complete ELF junkie, and I love all of the products I own from them. This lip colour is amazing – its staying power out does all of the other products I have mentioned and is my perfect shade. If you are after a nude lip, this is incredible, and ELF’s amazing pricing makes it the perfect product to try if you are new to make up or don’t want to spend a fortune finding a shade that is just right for you.
I love how natural it looks – it doesn’t look like I am wearing any lip colour at all. But I can feel how nourishing it is, and it can help to cancel out any blemishes I get…I am a cold sore magnet!

What are your go to lip products?? Are there any you would recommend I try??

Harriet xx

Dainty Doll Eyehadows

Good afternoon!
What a horrible day it has been – its been raining here.
And its been that annoying type of rain. You know the type, the poor excuse for rain, that is more like a fine mist than a downpour! Come on rain, if you’re going to do it, do it properly!
Its definitely been a ‘tea and fluffy socks’ day. I even put the heating on this morning! Come on August…sort it out!

Anyway, the point of this blog is to talk about some beauty bits I have been purchasing lately. (I couldn’t have a blog and not talk about beauty things! It just wouldn’t be right!)

As those of you who know me will already know, I am a huge bargain hunter. And if I find one that I can’t pass up, I normally end up getting it in every colour.
So imagine my absolute JOY when I went into my parents local Poundland and found these beauties!

Dainty Doll Shadows and Swatches

Yes, this is Dainty Doll, the make-up line created by Girls Aloud’s Nicola Roberts!
I was so excited to try these, so I scooped up all 5!
I unfortunately couldn’t find a retail price on the Dainty Doll website, so after some Googling, I found that these eye shadows can sell from £1.99 to £14.00 on some online stores. So even more excitement that I found them for 100 English pennies!

The colours are bright, bold and exciting, and as you can see from the swatches, they have a very impressive pigmentation and colour pay off! (I’m not overly sure when Ill wear the yellow one, but time will tell!)
The packaging is sleek and stylish. I wouldn’t mind receiving these as a gift!
The pans themselves do not have the name of the product printed on them, which I find to be a drawback, as when I want to use one, I have to open them all to see the colours – a huge bug in the beauty community, I know!
However, that is a small and insignificant drawback, when compared to the quality of the product. The eye shadows themselves are easy to apply, very smooth and non-creasing. The colours are bright and fun, and can be layered to create a dramatic or soft look, depending on your personal preference!

Sorry, how rude of me! I haven’t said colour names!! Whoops! (And I’m going left to right here)

003 Teach Me Tiger – Pearl rose-gold
001 Are You Experienced – Matte brown
008 – Jungle – Emerald green
006 – Kingston Town – A bright and vibrant yellow
004 – Copacabana – A bright blue

I feel these were an absolute steal at only £1 each – if you can visit a Poundland and get your hands on these babies, I would strongly advise it! They are amazing!
A very impressed and happy shopper right here!

Have you tried any of the Dainty Doll line?
What are your thoughts?
